I recently had the pleasure of performing at Grasmere Care Home in Sutton for their Family & Friends Annual Barbecue, and what a great afternoon it was!

From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel very welcome. I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely owners and their family, as well as Antonina, the Manager, Antony, the Activities Coordinator, and the wonderful team of staff.

The barbecue looked fantastic, and there was a real buzz as residents, families and staff came together to enjoy the sunshine, food and music. There was plenty of chatting, laughter, eating, singing and dancing throughout the afternoon.

I was also delighted to meet the Lady Mayor and her husband, who had come along to join the celebrations. The Lady Mayor even got up and joined in with one of the songs, enthusiastically playing the tambourine, swinging from side to side and giving it a good bash as she went, what I like to call a bit of shoop-shooping! It was great fun seeing her get involved.

There was also a member of the local community policing team there, who was happily sitting and enjoying the music and atmosphere.

The residents certainly entered into the spirit of the afternoon, with plenty of singing and dancing. One particular gentleman wearing a pizza hat caught my eye as he looked fantastic and was clearly having a brilliant time!

Antony had his moment in the spotlight. At one point, I passed him the microphone for a little whistle-along to Singing in the Rain, and he completely took over with a fabulous Frank Sinatra vibe. And what a voice! It was one of those unexpected moments that made the afternoon even more memorable.

I really enjoyed performing at Grasmere Care Home. It was a privilege to be part of their Family & Friends Barbecue and to see residents, relatives, staff and members of the wider community all enjoying themselves together.

A big thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome, especially Antonina and Antony, the Tony and Tony duo!

I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with you all and would be delighted to come back.
